Become an Addergoole Titanic Sponsor
Our projects are divided for sponsorship into Minor and Major. Minor projects are those with a projected estimated cost of €10,000 or less.
Minor Projects
Sponsors can adopt a minor project outright, but the minimum sponsorship that will be accepted for a minor project for part-funded sponsorship is €500. The minor projects are:
- Renovating the Timoney Bell in St Patrick's Church grounds: €1,000. Completed March 2010.
- Publish a book on Addergoole's Titanic memories, written and compiled by a relative: €5,000. Published November 2010.
- Three Road Signs - "Ireland’s Titanic Village", Mayo County Council approved, at €1,500. Completed April 2011.
- Addergoole Children's enactment in 2012 of the "American Wake": €3,000. North East Leader funded with matched funding from donations.
- Addergoole Titanic Re-enactment in 2012 Stage 1: Journey by sidecars and walking to Foxford or Castlebar: €3,000. North East Leader funded with matched funding from donations.
- Two stained glass windows on the theme of emigration, with one related to the Titanic, sited either side of the Titanic Church Memorial, approved by the Killala Diocese: €10,000. Funded with donations from descendant relatives and others.
- Recording and launch of song already written on Titanic theme, "The Water is Black", by one of the Titanic victim's relatives: €3,000.
- Two tourist information boards, near the external memorial, giving Addergoole's Titanic story: cost not yet known.
Major Projects
These are the projects with an estimated cost over €10,000. The minimum part-funded sponsorship that will be accepted for these projects is €5,000. In the event that a project could not go ahead through lack of funding, then sponsorship monies would be returned, or transferred with agreement of the potential sponsor to another listed project. The major projects are:
- External Addergoole Titanic Memorial with off-road parking; estimated at €100,000. Funded by North East Leader with matched funding from donations.
- The Addergoole Titanic Cultural week, 8th - 15th April 2012: €16,200. Funded by North East Leader with matched funding from donations. Click here for details of the week.
The plans for the Titanic Memorial Park are very ambitious and financially challenging in the present economic climate. Killala Diocese donated the land in the centre of Lahardane village. There will be a 12ft sculpture of Titanic's bow pointing west, five large bronze story plaques and two life size bronze statues clad in 1912 attire and luggage. More bronze statues are required to fully represent the Addergoole Fourteen. Each statue costs €8,000. Can you host a fundraiser to help?
